A Rhode Island Wedding and Portrait Photographer. My goal when photographing every wedding is to leave my clients with a full story of their day. All the pretty poses with their families and friends are important, yes, but it’s those in between moments of laughter and excitement for what is, and what is to come that fuels my love for capturing weddings all these years later.
New Bedford, Massachusetts, has always held a special place in my heart. During my time at UMASS Dartmouth, I took classes at the Starr building in downtown New Bedford. Years later, I had the pleasure of photographing Erin and Alex’s beautiful summer Whaling Museum wedding in this historic coastal city. Known for its historic architecture, bustling waterfront, and longstanding maritime heritage, New Bedford has a character all its own. There’s something special about wandering the old streets, surrounded by cobblestone roads and historic buildings. In summary, New Bedford has the unmistakable atmosphere of a city shaped by generations of fishermen and artists.

First, we strolled along the cobblestone streets of New Bedford, finding pockets of sunlight between the historic buildings. Then, we found a few favorite locations for their formal portraits. Here, the architecture and charm of the surroundings created a timeless backdrop for their wedding photographs. Their celebration continued at the Whaling Museum, a distinctive venue that reflects the city’s rich maritime history.

As a wedding photographer, I love when a location becomes part of the visual story of a wedding. New Bedford’s blend of historic architecture, coastal character, and artistic spirit made it a particularly meaningful setting for Erin and Alex’s day.
Cocktail hour was held in a large interior space housing a full scale whaling ship, and gave guests an immersive and unforgettable experience. The reception room was modernized and had a wall of windows overlooking the beautiful city below. This space was filled with love and celebration. Even Erin’s 90 year old grandmother danced the night away!

I love documenting weddings in places with a strong sense of identity. The surroundings become part of the memories, giving each gallery a sense of place that feels just as meaningful years later.
Erin and Alex, thank you for allowing me to capture these memories in a city that holds such a special place in my own story.
