A Rhode Island Wedding and Portrait Photographer. My goal when photographing every wedding is to leave my clients with a full story of their day. All the pretty poses with their families and friends are important, yes, but it’s those in between moments of laughter and excitement for what is, and what is to come that fuels my love for capturing weddings all these years later.
I first met Kelly and Paul back in 2019 and photographed their engagement session. None of us knew that in a few short months we would be dealing with a global pandemic. They were one of my couples who ultimately had to postpone their 2020 wedding until the summer of 2021. After the long wait, Kelly and Paul and all of their family and friends gathered for a big midsummer celebration at Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown, RI. We can all agree that it was worth the wait. What a fun event!
My dear friend Therese and I started by photographing Kelly and Paul at SpringHill Suites (A Marriott Hotel). This is one of the many reasons why I advocate for couples to choose a wedding package that includes two photographers- while I was photographing the ladies, Therese captured the guys and there were no moments missed.
A quick drive away from the hotel is the location for the wedding day celebration – Quidnessett Country Club in North Kingstown, RI. Quidnessett Country Club has been a busy wedding venue for as long as I can remember (now entering my 13th year in business), and has recently undergone a beautiful renovation. There are new chairs, carpeting, and a modern design to the two ballrooms and lobby area, all tastefully done and coordinating colors to the waterfront views that make this venue so desirable. Kelly kept her wedding location in mind when she chose her color scheme, because the mint bridesmaid dresses and navy suits fit in perfectly.
Before the ceremony, Kelly and Paul opted for a first look followed by all formals so that they could enjoy spending time with their guests during cocktail hour. I highly recommend considering a first look for all of my couples. And for the shy folks out there, having a private first look can ease any nerves you may have about becoming emotional in front of others. I love watching the groom’s reaction to seeing his bride!
Off to the side is the garden ceremony area, equipped with a gazebo for decorating and lovely views of the golf course and Narragansett Bay. We even saw some sailors in the distance. It is very convenient for couples to have a venue that allows multiple areas for wedding ceremonies to happen, and this spot was my personal favorite.
This young man named Sully stole my heart.
Thank you Kelly and Paul for a beautiful wedding to photograph, and even more so, beautiful people to celebrate with. After the rescheduling because of COVID, the extended engagement and all of the complications that come with planning a wedding during a pandemic, we know this day was everything you hoped for. Congratulations!
